To sum it all up I’d say…
twenty-one-years-old-life loving lady with a love for the finer things in life. grown up on the tropical island of Singapore, exploring the world, being a world citizen and celebrating the beauty this world has to offer with or without illness. share this journey with me
Why Singapore?
i was born in a little town called Seligenstadt about half an hour from Frankfurt, Germany. Even before i could walk my parents decided to take me on a roller coaster ride and travel the world. My family moved to Hong Kong followed by Beijing and several other cities until we reached Singapore when i was 8.
I have called Singapore my home for the last 13 years and i love this little tropical island for all its uniqueness and character. What’s so different about Singapore? Let me tell you, A LOT!
Starting from the food obsessed population of Singaporeans, to the sunny and humid climate and the endless hours you can spend here shopping, Singapore has a lot to offer to its citizens and tourists. If you ever plan on visiting this little island feel free to contact me about the ‘must do’s’ when visiting Singapore.
Since February 2010 I have been living in Germany, Trier with my aunts and uncle due to health reasons. I am looking forward to going back to University in October 2011 hopefully in Munich.
Food
After many years of having an unhealthy and distorted view about what food is and how we all need food to survive, i am finally trying to find a healthy balance in my life with food.
i love eating, tasting new dishes, exploring new flavors and discovering new and unknown food from all over the world. There are no bad or good foods in my life, everything should be about moderation. I listen to my body and i know that it will tell me what it needs and craves right now. Fighting craving leads to temptations and obsessions, however giving in to a craving leaves me with all the peace i need to rest peacefully inside my body.
If you want to know more about the food i eat, the flavors i enjoy head over to my tasty world side where i will post some of my favorite meals.
Yoga
When i first started Yoga i thought, No way this is not for me. Way too slow! However it was these slow movements and the time where i had to be still with myself that i found myself. I learned to breathe through tough situations, deal with stressful things and most importantly to stop comparing myself to others around me. My body was created for me and no one else. I don’t need to live up to some ideal, its okay for me to just be me.
These are some processes that have come into action after i started practicing Yoga on a regular base. I usually only do 20-30 min 2-3 times a week but that’s all i need now. Maybe someday i will do more or less. I don’t know. I will let me body guide me to where it wants to be. Yoga is my ‘Me time’. Time where everything is about Me as a person and not about anything else.
Health
I have been diagnosed with Lymphocytic Colitis which has made the last 4 years of my life a huge challenge. I have to deal with a lot of gastric distress and discomfort and try my best to work my life around it. I quit my university degree in order to get healthy before I put my body through even more stress at this time. I try my best to listen to my body and respect it for its condition and accept that I right now can not live the life of a normal 22-year-old student. My life is a little more relaxed and easy but certainly not boring

I love your blog. You are very spirited and clever.
I am also a 21 year old “world citizen”: I’m from France – have been all over the globe – and now live in Florida.
My relationship with food has been extremely unhealthy for many years and I’ve been striving to lead a healthy lifestyle for the past couple of years. You set a great example and I can’t wait to read more of your blog.

We do have a shockingly similar story
No plans to go back to Singapore anytime soon (SO sad), because my parents recently moved back to New York. I’m sure I’ll be getting back there eventually, though. Are you still in school there now?
And, I am definitely still in the “this is too slow for me” stage of yoga, but I’m trying to push through it, because it is something that I so want to enjoy.

Hi Neela! Thank you for the comment on my blog, it meant a lot to me! I’ve just spent the evening readung your blog and I’m impressed by the thoughfulness and depth that show in your writing. I’ve enjoyed it a lot and am looking forward to reading more. Actually, you’re also the first German blogger I’ve met – I know you haven’t lived in Germany for most of your life, but you’ve been born here and currently live here again. Trier, ha, that’s awesome! I’ve been there a couple of times and really liked the city. I remember very well how much I loved to run through the endless tunnels of the Kaiserthermen.
Liebe Grüße aus Heidelberg! (As you see, I’m not overly far away.
